We have been waiting for a long time to experience this adventure in Tenerife. And so have you guys! You wrote to us on our profile on IG that this is one of those things you would like to try. Delighted with any new adventure, we decided we would give it a try! Helicopter flight in Tenerife – we have to say it: this was one of the most spectacular attractions we experienced in Tenerife!

Helicopter flight in Tenerife – what did it really look like?

We were scheduled to take off in a town near Costa Adeje. After a short briefing and writing down our personal information from our documents (remember to bring your ID or passport), we boarded the helicopter and…. it began.

After just a few seconds we were in the air, and Tenerife began to unfold before us like a three-dimensional map. Views – indescribable. But we’ll give it a try!

Tenerife from a bird’s eye view – a view that will take your breath away

The Canary Islands are stunning with their views, but they look even better from a bird’s eye view! The Playa del Duque and la Caleta beaches from above looked like pictures from a catalog. We also saw a volcano. This moment knocked us into our seats. Literally and emotionally. The mountain, which appeared to be an ordinary hill, from above turned out to be the crater of a volcano. We could also admire the banana plantations and the surrounding towns. Throughout the flight we had headphones and microphones through which we could communicate with each other and the pilot.

Routes and flight options – what can you choose?

Since we studied all the available options before deciding, here’s a hint of what helicopter flights in Tenerife are available:

1. short route (about 7-8 minutes)

Ideal for the first time, especially if one is stressed. Fly mainly along the south coast – Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos.

2. route over the coast (about 10-12 minutes)

Our option! Seeing the beaches, the gorges, the coast is one of the most beautiful attractions in Tenerife.

3. Los Gigantes (18-20 minutes)

Flying over the coast of Tenerife to the majestic cliffs of Los Gigantes, which are very impressive. After all, they are Giants 🙂

4. island from a bird’s eye view (25 – 30 minutes)

In this option you can see not only the southern, but also the northwest coast of Tenerife, with beautiful green landscapes in Buenavista del Norte.

5. helicopter flight over Teide volcano (40 – 45 min)

This is already an adventure for true aviation fans. In almost an hour you can see almost all climate and landscape zones of Tenerife – from the northern forests to the southern deserts. And the icing on the cake – el Teide volcano.

How much does a helicopter flight cost in Tenerife?

This, of course, depends on the route. Prices start at about 98 euros per person for the shortest route. We paid about 145 euros per person and it was worth every cent and every second.

Is it safe?

Definitely yes. Helicopters are modern, pilots are experienced, and everything is done to the highest standards. Before the flight there is a short training session, and all the staff takes care of the comfort and safety of the passengers. Even families with children as young as 2 years old can go on such a flight.

Our emotions after the flight

When we landed, we couldn’t stop smiling. We still had “butterflies in our stomachs” long after the flight. This mixture of adrenaline, awe of nature and the feeling of freedom made Tenerife helicopter flight our number 1 holiday memory.

What should you know before flying?
