Wondering where to spend your winter vacation? Tenerife in winter is a guarantee of sunshine, extraordinary landscapes and attractions available all year round. Find out what the weather is like on the island in winter, what tours are worth choosing and why Tenerife is the perfect destination in the colder months
Weather in Tenerife in winter
Tenerife is said to be the island of eternal spring, as even in winter the temperatures here reach 20-25°C during the day. This is an ideal time for sightseeing, trekking, but also beachcombing, especially in the south of the island. Here the risk of precipitation is low. But Tenerife is also said to be a continent in a nutshell, for the reason that in different parts of the island on the same day, the temperature can vary significantly. Evenings are already cooler, clouds and rain are more common in the north of the island, and snow on the Teide volcano!
Is it worth going to Tenerife in winter?
If you want to extend your vacation, Tenerife will be a great option. You can still enjoy good weather, but at the same time it is no longer as hot as in summer. It’s also usually less crowded in November and you can find accommodations and hotels at good prices. Attractions, on the other hand, are available all year round.
The most interesting winter excursions in Tenerife
While all attractions are available year-round, there are a few that we especially recommend in winter:
Teide volcano
There are many ways to explore the Teide volcano: quad bikes, buggies, trekking to the summit or on a round trip. Whichever option you choose, keep in mind that it is already cold at this altitude in winter. If you choose to take the cable car or climb to the summit itself, you may find temperatures below 0°C. And the views of Teide in winter are amazing – a sea of clouds, snow on the summit, and sunshine on the coast.

Road trips
Winter is also the perfect time for road trips. Fewer tourists, less hot, but with a Polish guide and comfortable. During roundtrips you can see the most important places on the island – Masca village, Teide volcano, Anaga Mountains, La Laguna and many others. You can book all tours 👉 here.
Paragliding flight
Tenerife in winter is even ideal conditions for paragliding. It is not without reason that the paragliding championship is held here in winter. Contrary to appearances, it is not such an extreme sport, you do not need any special preparation or license. All you need is comfortable footwear, and our Polish instructor will provide you with instruction. And the bird’s eye views of the Tenerife coast are unforgettable.
Loro Parque and Siam Park
These two largest amusement parks in Tenerife are open year-round. In Siam Park, the water is heated and there are usually fewer visitors, making the queues for the water attractions shorter. Keep in mind that if you want to visit both parks, it’s worth buying a combined ticket, which you can find 👉 here.
Observing the stars
Personally, we really like a trip to observe the stars just in winter. Why? Because the air clarity is greatest and you can admire the constellations and stars. And such a view from the crater of a volcano is an experience you don’t forget. During this tour you will see the stars through professional telescopes, and you will be introduced to the world of astro by astrophysicists with a vocation and great knowledge.

Beaches and bathing in winter
If you are worried about not being able to swim in the Ocean in winter, we reassure you! Although the Atlantic Ocean is colder in winter, it is still suitable for swimming, with water temperatures around 19-20°C. At this time, popular beaches in the south of Tenerife such as Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos and Playa del Duque If you prefer swimming in the pool, in the south of Tenerife some hotels have heated pools.

Seasonal events and attractions
Winter in Tenerife is also a time of celebration, It’s during the winter season that you can experience Christmas under the palm trees, see the beautifully decorated Christmas markets. And already in February begins the Carnival of Santa Cruz, which is in no way inferior to the one in Rio de Janeiro.
Practical tips
The most frequently asked question by you is: How to pack for Tenerife in winter? What to bring with you? We answer: take summer clothes with you, you will certainly use summer dresses, short pants and tops, and of course swimwear. For evenings, we recommend a sweatshirt and longer lightweight pants. On the other hand, if you are going on excursions to the mountains (by train to the top of Teide, by quad bike to the sunset, you want to paraglide from the volcano) – then take a warmer jacket with you.
If you’re planning a Tenerife vacation in winter, we also recommend booking everything in advance: accommodations, car, tours.
